World Mental Health Day is on 10th October and is organised by the World Federation of Mental Health in conjunction with WHO (World Health Organization). It occurs annually and is an opportunity to raise awareness of mental health conditions and the effect they have on people worldwide. The theme for this year is: ‘Mental Health is a Universal Human Right’.
How Can We Ensure Mental Health and Physical Health Are Treated Equally?
Good mental health means much more than an absence of mental illness. There has always been a huge gap between funding for physical health and mental health. This is because there is still a stigma attached to mental health care and, until this is removed, the difference will exist. The human right to mental health requires that mental health care be given equality with physical health care.
To coincide with World Mental Health Day, All Resources has produced a series of blogs on bipolar disorder, which is a severe mental health condition. Bipolar disorder affects people at any age and is characterised by dramatic shifts in moods. Our blogs will examine the different types of bipolar disorder and the way it impacts the lives of individuals.
